Other Ways to Give

EYA is happy to have so many people who read our newsletter, come out to volunteer in our gardens, at events, participate as volunteers in other community projects, and let us know they are interested in what we are doing when we see them at events around town.

Thanks to our network we are slowly but surely increasing our donor base and earning funds that are critical to our continued environmental work with some of Vancouver’s children and youth. 

Securing funding is an ongoing project that never ceases, so here are a few easy ways to give – in some cases even without spending a dime!!

• Depending on what type of credit card you have, you can likely turn your reward points into a cash donation to EYA instead of things like merchandise or air miles. With VanCity’s Enviro Visa card, once you have accumulated 1000 points or more you can choose to donate them to EYA. You will also get a tax receipt for doing so! Please see your points plan or contact your credit card company for more info!
  

• Maybe you already make United Way contributions through your workplace? If so, you can have your donation designated for EYA. Talk to your employer about how to do this.
  

• Maybe your employer has a matching gift program that will match and double a donation you make to EYA. Many employers will match charitable contributions of their employees, which is a very powerful way for charities like us to leverage more funding and continue our work. Some of the bigger employers that do have matching programs include: American Express, Atena Life Insurance Company, BMO Financial Group, Scotiabank, TD Financial Group, Telus Corporation and others. Contact your human resources department to find out if your company has a matching program.
  

• Host a third party fundraising event! Hold a yard sale, craft sale, pizza party, bowl-a-thon, or some other type of event and donate proceeds to EYA.  Have an idea? Let us know, we'll be happy to work with you to make it a success, provide brochures on our organization etc.
  

Any way you donate is great! We are grateful for every contribution and assure you that your gifts make a different in the lives of many youth and in the social and environmental landscape of Vancouver.
